New 2 Piece Tackelit Beach Rod Holders
All TACKELIT beach rod holders are now supplied in 2 Piece break up format. If you choose to use a one-piece holder, simply apply some Loctite to the threads and lock the joint up tight. You now have a one-piece rod holder ready to go.
If you want the versatility of a break-up holder.
It is IMPORTANT that care is taken when assembling and transporting to protect the threads. To achieve this, a thread protector is supplied to prevent mechanical damage to the thread. DO NOT assemble the rod holder if there is sand in the threads, both male and female. If sand is present, simply slosh both ends around in a bucket of water (clean sea water is fine) just let the suspended sand in the bucket settle to the bottom first.
 
Sand can be notoriously hard, especially close to the water at low tide and a few pebbles thrown into the mix. If the foot peg still won’t solve this problem, the thread protector can be used to hammer the lower part of the holder into the sand, NEVER hammer directly on the thread or flared collar. A soft blow hammer is best to protect the aluminium thread protector, if one is not available, a normal hammer can be used. However, this will cause wear on the top of the thread protector over time and can be dressed or replaced if necessary. Included are two reflective tapes to stick along the holder to easily measure your fish according to the legal size limit of your target species.
 
It is always recommended that at least the full length of the sand spike be inserted to ensure stability of the rod holder. If the sand is very soft, push it in deeper. Once the holder has been inserted lock it up properly by turning on the large tube at the top of the holder (this generates maximum torque) To disassemble, unlock the joint while the sand spike is still inserted, remove the holder, completely unscrew the joint and replace the thread protector for transport. Like all fishing tackle, always wash holder and threads with fresh water to prevent salt crystallising when seawater dries out.
 
If these instructions are followed the joint will last indefinitely.
